The initial lineup for the Supersonic Festival 2024 has been announced. Beneath the black brick arches of Digbeth in Birmingham strange and wonderful sounds will once again unfold as the interesting and wonderful people gather. Bonnie Prince Billie, The Body and Dis Fig, Emma Ruth Rundle, OXN and Senywa. Plus the return of Gazelle Twin and Melt Banana.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Supersonic Festival is Fighting Boredom’s spiritual home. We have discovered music there that we had never heard of and caught up with bands that we love each year. From the obliterating spectacle of a reformed Godflesh to the delicate and restrained violence of the Oxbow Choir to name but two. We never fail to come away without a new favourite band and a bag ful of records, CDs or tee shirts.
To quote Lisa Meyer, Artistic Director and Festival co-founder
“We were blown away by the love and recognition we received last year when we celebrated 20 years since the inception of Supersonic festival. More so than ever, in these challenging and uncertain times, we are motivated with an urgency to seek out and champion the most important artists from the underground and to create opportunities for shared experiences with a program that can bring joy and unite us.”
