‘In the spring of 2019 ShitKid – Åsa Söderqvist and Lina Molarin Ericsson – headed over to the US for a couple of shows at the SXSW festival in Austin, TX’ They squeezed in the time to record this album, four songs recorded twice in two languages, Fighting Boredom have been listening, read what we thought below.

Shitkid are two women, not much older than kids judging from the cover picture of them in bikinis and death metal face paint posing in what looks like very cold mud. They make brilliant music that sounds just like what you’d expect two kids who pose in bikinis in death metal face paint on the cover of their new album to make, it’s sludgy, wired and weirded out. Partly because they only play four songs on the record, oh and ask if they should buy beer, a question for which the only right answer is always going to be yes. But they ask that question and play the songs twice once singing in English and once in their own tongue, Swedish. Which makes for a great record. Add to that the fact that this was recorded in LA and Austin with none other than Paul Leary from the mentally loose Butthole Surfers and Buzz and Dale from the sludge titans Melvins.

So with that in mind, this album sounds better than you already think it does. Åsa Söderqvist and Lina Molarin Ericsson sing like angels, lazy, vengeful, jealous, teenage delinquent angels with an agenda of buying beer, painting their faces and generally persuading staples of the underground music scene to add more menace and strangeness to their songs. I don’t know which versions of the songs are better, I don’t know which way I’d rather hear the question about beer, and just to reiterate, the answer is a resounding yes! I just know that this record is well worth you all checking out.
